My dad was in the RCAF and served on bases across Canada. He said late in his life that he regretted not going overseas. I sad to him that for every bum in a Spitfire there were 10 men who put him there, armorers, feelers, cooks, garbage collectors, guards and that I was proud of him none the less. He died last year and I wear his RCAF reserve pin on my hat.

thank you for starting this thread. I had a friend killed in Afghanistan by a road side bomb, 1 week before he was to come home. I have attended many Remembrance Day services over the years. Maybe missed 1 in last 30yrs. Once I was reffing a hockey tournament & had both teams agree to a 2 min moment of silence during the game at 11am. The buzzer rang at 1058 & both teams lined up on the blue lines for 11am & the moment of silence. You could hear a pin drop in the arena. It was special. Both coaches thanked me after the game to reminding them & the kids, what was really important.
